About The Area Around Midships
Beside The Seaside, In Style
Midships is a brand new apartment in Burlington Place, the recently refurbished building that was formerly the iconic Burlington Hotel on Sheringham seafront.
Situated on The Esplanade, the imposing and elegant Burlington was built in 1899 after the creation of a direct railway link to London in 1887 turned Sheringham into a popular destination for wealthy Victorian visitors.
Sheringham has a beautiful sand and pebble beach, which runs between itself and West Runton. It is a Blue Flag beach and there are a number of coastal walks along the chalk cliffs.
The centre of Sheringham with its mixture of restaurants, individual shops and seaside pubs is only a couple of minutes away from Midships. The golf course (founded 1891 and boasting notable former members including Robert Falcon Scott – better known as Scott of the Antarctic – and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) is just a short walk and the North Norfolk Coastal path is practically on the doorstep.
Nearby is Sheringham Park (National Trust), a wonderful landscape park and woodland garden designed in 1812 by Humphry Repton. Here you can experience magnificent coastal views from the gazebo viewing tower and stretch your legs following the various tracks, trails and pathways. There is also a parkrun here on a Saturday morning if you are that way inclined.
Sheringham is located 25 miles away from Norwich between Cromer and Holt. The main road running through the town is the A148 but you can also access the town from the A140, which turns into the A149. There are excellent transport links from Sheringham by mainline rail to Cromer, Norwich and the Norfolk Broads, and by steam train (on the North Norfolk Railway – the “Poppy Line”) to the charming town of Holt.
